We got another opportunity to spend a weekend with an Infinity, and this time it was the QX70. We took the performance-inspired crossover for a spin in Wadi El-Karem, Mount Lebanon. The course covered all types of Lebanese roads and the QX70 felt at home hustling around its corners. The passengers, our photographers, also enjoyed every second of the ride as they were treated to an attractive cabin chock full of tech toys.
On the outside, the Infinity QX70 looks like a very mean car. Its Bi-Xenon auto-leveling headlights and 20-inch alloy wheels compliment its distinctive shape and bring out the car’s sporty performance. Inside, the story continues. Infinity fitted the QX70 with leather seats and steering wheel, a black lacquer and aluminum trim, and a center stack that houses an array of buttons and controls, topped by a color navigation touchscreen. Infiniti made the most out of modern technology when designing this car. Its multifunction power tilt and telescopic steering wheel and front seats have memory, no more headaches after your dad drives the car. All the features are accessible to the driver, making for smooth rides. Its ahead-of-the-times design means that this car will age nicely.
Onto driving the Infiniti QX70, and the exhilarating sound of its 3.7-liter V6. The car boasts 320 HP, and with the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive and a 7-speed automatic transmission, pushing the car to its limits was a piece of cake. Also worth mentioning, the gearbox does have a manual mode for a better sense of control over the vehicle. We drove the car downhill, uphill, on long straights, in tight corners and savored the engine’s grumbly exhaust notes that turn heads. The QX70 is a perfect fit for the spirited drivers. Other cool technologies on board the QX70 were the Infiniti Intelligent Key with Illuminated Push Button Ignition and cruise control. Safety is crucial at Infiniti, the QX70 comes with 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS), and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC). And an Around View Monitor (AVM) with parking sensors and distance indication. Whether you plan to venture off-road, go camping, or go grocery shopping 30 minutes before your favorite Grand Prix, the QX70’s got you covered.
Bonus: the QX70 also supports Bluetooth hands-free phone system and audio streaming. And it is equipped with a Bose Premium Sound system with 11 speakers. Just in case you want to throw a party in your car.
The Infiniti QX70’s performance and handling make one of the most rewarding crossover vehicles to drive. Models are available at both Infiniti showrooms in Lebanon, at Cheyyah and Dbayye, with various colors and feature options. The options include a wood trim, aluminium pedal sports design, paddle sifters, and a theater package.
