International Engine of the Year 2016 winner revealed

June 2, 2016 – The International Engine of the Year is an annual competition for automotive industry internal combustion engines, judged by a panel of automobile journalists from all over the globe.

Every year, 63 journalists from 30 countries determine a winner in each category, and an overall victor.

Last year, BMW’s three-cylinder engine that is used in the BMW i8 took the overall win. However, this year’s winner is significantly bigger: Ferrari’s 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine – found in the Ferrari 488 GTB.

“It’s a giant leap forward for turbocharged engines in terms of efficiency, performance and flexibility. It truly is the best engine in production today and will forever be remembered as one of the all-time greats.” said the awards’ co-chairman Graham Johnson.
