After excellent preparation for this season with MotorTune and good participation in previous rounds of the Middle east Championship, Ammar Hijazi couldn’t start the Jordan rally 2011.
Check out why didn’t Ammar start the rally and few more things on 2011
Ammar can you explain for us in details why didn’t you start the rally of Jordan?
The car was absolutely ready, and then suddenly we found out that the power steering has a leak, so we sent a guy from Torino to Milan and then to Amman, so we get the part before the rally. The guy arrived in Amman but the part was shipped with his luggage, and the part didn’t arrive yet.
What were your expectations ahead of the rally especially that you were preparing very well this year?
This is my country’s rally and I had high expectations. The stages were good. The preparation was excellent and the car was totally rebuilt. We had a new engine, new gearbox, new suspension, and breaks. Practically we had everything ready, but this is rallying and such things happen. ‘We don’t hate such happening since it might be for our benefit in the future’.
Are you satisfied with your cooperation with MotorTune?
MotorTune is one of the teams that I trust a lot. Roger Feghali has a big role in preparing my car and he has a big role in pushing me forward a lot.
This year you have started with a new Co-Driver (Joseph Matar). How do you find your relationship together and your future together?
Joseph is my friend even before rallying. He is one of the best Co-drivers in the Middle East, if not the best at all. In my Opinion is up to the level of the foreigners.
What are your expectations for the remaining rallies in MERC season and what are your future plans?
I will be competing in all rallies. I am not sure about the Jordanian championship though, but I’m concentrating on the MERC. I will do the Cyprus rally, but before I will be preparing with a big test.
