Introducing the 2024 Nissan Leaf: A New Electric Crossover

Nissan has unveiled the third-generation Nissan Leaf, marking a major shift in its electric vehicle lineup. The once-compact EV has grown into a stylish, upright crossover, offering impressive range and advanced technology. This reimagined version signifies a new era for Nissan under the leadership of incoming CEO Ivan Espinosa, who hopes this redesign will help turn the company’s fortunes around.

Built on the same ‘CMF-EV’ platform as the Ariya EV, the new Leaf offers enhanced aerodynamics with a sleek front design and swooping roofline. While Nissan is tight-lipped about specific technical details like battery size and power output, the Leaf promises a solid driving range of 373 miles (600 km) on a single charge. This impressive range, coupled with the “3-in-1” powertrain system that integrates the motor, inverter, and reducer, makes the Leaf an attractive option for long-distance EV travelers.

The exterior styling of the 2024 Leaf is notably more modern, with an emphasis on efficiency and a more commanding presence. It’s shorter by about 15 cm compared to its predecessor but stands taller and more upright. Inside, it features premium additions like 19-inch wheels and a panoramic “moonroof.”

This new Leaf also supports NACS charging, enabling compatibility with Tesla chargers, further increasing its long-haul appeal. Produced in Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK, this new model will debut in Europe later this year, alongside other exciting electric models like the new Micra and Juke.
