Joe Ghanem unlucky again

Lebanese young starlet Joe Ghanem missed out on a potential podium finish after big shunt on Lap 1.

It was probably not his weekend. Although he showed very good pace in free practice Joe was obliged to use the wrong type of tyres in the official practice which cots him big time where he only qualified 8th. The soft compound is horrible on Joe’s Ginetta and made him waste a big opportunity to fight for the win.

On Sunday Joe was allowed to use the hard compound tyres which are great on his car on free practice and he got on with a good start. But, as if Saturday’s troubles were not enough Joe’s race was destroyed early on where he had contact on the opening lap and had to park his GulfSport prepared Ginetta, as did fellow Ginetta driver Khaled Al Mudhaf who also had an excursion a few laps later.

The race that took place on Yas Marina circuit in Abou Dhabi was part of the UAE GTC series which Joe is participating in. He had three previous podium finishes before this race and he will have the chance to recover when the championship shifts to Dubai Autodrome on the 25th of this month.
