Joe Osborne tests the McLaren 750S at Dubai Autodrome, praising its lightweight build, powerful V8 engine, and exceptional handling.
Joe Osborne, a seasoned racer and Dubai 24 Hour champion, recently tested the McLaren 750S at the Dubai Autodrome, an FIA-certified circuit known for its challenging layout. Osborne, who has extensive experience with the track, was thoroughly impressed by the McLaren 750S, McLaren’s lightest and most powerful series production supercar to date.
Osborne commended the 750S for surpassing the performance of its predecessor, the 720S, which had set high standards in the supercar segment. He noted that the 750S, with its exceptional power-to-weight ratio of 587PS-per-tonne, has elevated the benchmark even further. Approximately 30% of its components are new or revised, contributing to its enhanced power, reduced weight, and thrilling driving experience.
Osborne was particularly struck by the powerful twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine and its distinctive exhaust note, which echoes the legendary McLaren P1™. The engine delivers an impressive 750PS and 800Nm of torque, enabling the 750S to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds and from 0-200km/h in 7.2 seconds (7.3 seconds for the Spider variant). He praised the car’s refined steering and handling, highlighting its exceptional stability and driver engagement.
The McLaren 750S, available in both coupe and spider variants, is designed as a purist’s supercar, building on the success of the 720S with significant advancements in weight reduction, powertrain performance, and aerodynamics. Weighing in at just 1,389kg, the 750S is 30kg lighter than the 720S, demonstrating McLaren’s commitment to lightweight engineering.
The 750S offers exhilarating performance and agility, even at lower speeds, making it a standout in its class.
