Jordan Rally confirmed for May 9-11

Jordan is preparing to host the third round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship which takes place from May 9-11.

The Kingdom has confirmed that the popular event will again be centred around tough tracks in the Jordan Valley, close to the Dead Sea which is the lowest land spot on earth at 420m below sea level.

While the exact route is kept closely under wraps, it is expected to feature many of the challenging stages that were used when Jordan hosted the FIA World Rally Championship.

“It will again be a test for both car and driver,” said Clerk of the Course, Ihab Bate. “The team is currently working on the routes to ensure they are in world-class condition for the region’s top teams.”

The season has already gotten underway in Qatar and Kuwait before round three arrives in Jordan.

Last year, Qatar’s Nasser Al Attiyah clinched victory with a super display of driving skill which cemented his position as one of the all time Arab greats.

However, his dominance is expected to face its sternest challenge yet with an impressive list of regional contenders likely to join the Kingdom’s best on the start list.
