October 17, 2016 – Lebanon was strongly represented in the IAME World Championship at Le Mans, France this past weekend as 9 drivers competed in the IAME International Final among 430 drivers from 47 countries.
Karl Massaad, Lucien George, Youssef Jammal and Chant Etyemezian raced in the X30 Super Shifter category under the Lebanese nationality against 27 other competitors from around the world, with Massaad pulling off an outstanding performance to finish in a fine 5th place overall.
George, Jammal and Eytemezian were ranked 21st, 24th and 26th respectively, with the latter suffering from engine problems which prevented him from finishing further ahead.
It is worth mentioning that Massaad also set the fastest lap of the race on the French circuit.
In the X30 Senior category, there was Hrayr Khatchadourian, while Rashed Ghanem, Karl Etyemezian (youngest driver at 12 years old), Marvin Dinar and Jay Khoury competed in the X30 Junior category and finished 75th, 120th, 127th and 128th respectively.
