Abu Dhabi, October 28th 2014 – Following his WRC participation in Rally Cataluña last weekend, Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qassimi and his Co-driver Chris Patterson on board the Citroën DS3 RRC are leading the Abu Dhabi Racing team’s participation in Oman Rally this coming weekend. The Oman Rally is a candidate event for the Middle East Rally Championship 2015 calendar. Racing in the 2WD Citroën DS3 R3, ADR junior drivers, Mohamed Al Mutawaa, Saeed Bintouq, Juma Al Falasi, and Mansoor Belhelei are preparing to take on a new challenge with their participation in the candidate event.
Commenting on his participation in Oman Rally, Al Qassimi said: “I am really looking forward to Oman Rally and I wish everyone the best of luck both organizers and participants alike.”
Al Qassimi added: “Many factors have to be taken into account at Oman Rally, after winning Abu Dhabi Rally I travelled directly to Spain to participate in my last WRC event for this season and now we are heading directly to Oman! The terrain in Oman is totally different to Abu Dhabi and Spain so we will have a lot of work to do on the car’s setup to ensure it is properly prepared.”
“My aim in Oman will of course be to win the rally, but I would also like to see our junior team perform really well. It will be important for them to have patience and complete the rally and in doing so they will gain many miles of hugely valuable experience.”
The 172.8Km long Oman Rally will be divided into 13 Special Stages spread over 3 consecutive days. There will be one stage on the first day (Thursday 30th of October) taking place over 3.54km, while the following two days (Friday 31st Oct/ Saturday 1st Nov) will consist of 6 stages per day totalling 83.86Km and 85.4Km respectively.
