Arab drivers Khalifa Al Mutaiwei and Nasser Al-Attiyah, both of whom delivered one of their finest performances this year, have made it onto Yahoo’s Top 10 Arab athletes of the year.
Dubai’s Al Mutaiwei and his German co-driver Andreas Schulz recently clinched the 2012 FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies title during the season finale in Cairo, Egypt. Khalifa is now the first Arab driver to win a major international championship on two occasions – his first dates back to 2004.
Nasser Al-Attiyah, meanwhile, also had his share of good fortune; the Qatari driver set a new milestone by taking Qatar’s and the Arab world’s first medal at the London 2012 Olympics in the mens’ skeet shooting contest. Al-Attiyah managed to claim his seventh Middle East Rally Championship title as well.
