Lamborghini’s First EV to Be Its Most Powerful Yet

Lamborghini is gearing up to launch its first all-electric vehicle by 2030, and it’s set to be the brand’s most powerful model ever. According to Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume, this groundbreaking EV could generate up to 2,000 horsepower. The car will be built on a dedicated platform designed by Porsche for the VW Group’s performance and luxury brands, which will also be used by Audi and Bentley.

Blume shared in a recent interview that the platform will be tailored specifically for Lamborghini, with capabilities to handle up to 980 volts. The production model will take cues from the Lanzador concept revealed in mid-2023, featuring a raised suspension and two doors, elements that will be carried over to the final design.

The Lanzador concept showcased 1,341 horsepower (1 megawatt), and Lamborghini’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, confirmed the production EV will match or exceed that power output. Equipped with two electric motors for all-wheel drive, this new Lamborghini EV will be assembled alongside other models at the brand’s Sant’Agata facility in Italy.

Although initially slated for release in 2028, the launch has been pushed to 2029. Winkelmann is optimistic about its success, expecting it to perform well in sales, similar to the brand’s upcoming entry-level model, the Temerario. Blume promises that the EV will remain true to Lamborghini’s emotional and exhilarating driving experience.
