April 3, 2017 – Lebanese motorcycle racing champion Mahmoud Tannir successfully clinched his third UAE Sportbike Championship in the 2016-2017 season finale last week.
Tannir won the first race of the 6th and final round of the season, which took place at the Dubai Autodrome, to secure the 2016-2017 championship title. Despite crashing out in the second race while fighting for victory, he was able to finish the season at the top of the standings with a comfortable 33-point gap to his closest competitor, Saudi Arabia’s Ahmed Almuyini.
The Honda CBR rider, who previously won the title in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013, enjoyed a flawless campaign as he climbed on the podium in all six rounds of the championship.
In a conversation with Biser3a.com, Mahmoud said: “It feels incredible, I really setup my campaign from the summer time by training in Europe on few tracks and also pushed myself hard in fitness training. I wanted my third title so bad and I gave it my best… it just felt incredible to win and I think it is the best one between my three titles.”
He added: “My performance was really good this year which tells me I still have some time to give it all and challenge myself some more. I’m motivated as ever and want to have some new challenges next year, but for now its time to relax a bit and enjoy my time with the family away pushing myself all the time. Until next year!”
