Life-Sized Porsche 934 Wireframe Sculpture Sells for £201K at Auction

A lifesize wireframe Porsche 934 sculpture sold for £201,000 at auction, showcasing a unique blend of art and automotive passion.

A stunning life-sized sculpture of the Porsche 934 has just sold for an eye-watering £201,000 at auction—an impressive price for a piece of automotive art. The Porsche 934, originally introduced in 1976 as a racing variant of the turbocharged 930, was designed for Group 4 competition. But this particular version isn’t built for racing. Instead, it’s a wire-frame model created by artist Benedict Radcliffe in 2022.

Radcliffe’s Porsche 934 sculpture made its debut at the 2022 Milan Design Week and went on a world tour before finally being auctioned off. Despite the fact that you could buy a real Porsche 934 or even a high-performance Porsche 911 for less, this striking art piece garnered significant attention, with 218 bids pushing the price well beyond expectations.

The sculpture, built from 32mm steel tubes, replicates the iconic Porsche 934 with intricate detail, featuring the distinctive BBS wheels and Avon tires. It’s a perfect blend of automotive passion and artistic expression, attracting a private Chinese collector.

So, would you prefer a real Porsche 930 Turbo or this wire-frame work of art? The art world has certainly proven its ability to surprise.
