LMC 2nd round of 2011 Motocross Championship Summary

The 2nd round of 2011 Motocross Championship saw a competition on a completely new track in Falougha with a lot of Drama.

The second MotoCross race of the season took place yesterday in Falougha on a professional track built by the LMC (Lebanese MotorCycle Club) especially for the event.

The race which was organized with the collaboration of Karanouh RallyMotorsports, is the 2nd round of the championship that started at Ramlet el Bayda last spring and saw the official launch of the club. The round saw 2 races of 2 different categories, the 250cc and the 450cc bikes.

The 250cc Category saw the competition running between 6 riders; 49- Omar Khawaja, 40- Ahmad Khawaja, 44- Mohamad El Abed, 48- Ibrahim Khawaja, 1- Mohamad Khawaja, and 2- Edmon Sassine.  The race was made of 8 laps and Omar Khawaja ended up in first place after a fierce battle with Ahmad Khawaja. They were followed closely by Edmon Sassine.

The 450cc Category saw the competition running between 7 riders; 46- Ahmad Al Hasan, 41- Hassan Osman, 35 – Wael Sayed, 42- Bilal Hasan, 47- Hanna Joni Yamin, 7- Jean Paul and 11- Rafic Eid. The race was won by Hassan Osman who also won the Tripoli Red Bull Car Park Drift Qualifiers last June. Hassan was also followed closely by Jean Paul Khlat who had an extremely impressive race and challenged Hassan for the win. Third place went to Ahmad Hasan who had an impressive race too.

What was very noticeable this weekend is the good organization for both races. Safety Marshals were covering the entire track and the logistics were better studied compared to the first event. In addition to this, the track was based on a professional basis and we believe that this event is one event to build upon. The sport is new in Lebanon especially it’s legitimate and organizational form but after the second race we believe that good foundations are being laid and the availability of talent makes it easier to develop further more.

The event was sponsored by Red Bull and Commercial Insurance. Biser3a.com was present as usual to cover the event. The municipality of Falougha was there for all the support and it presented the land were the track was built.
