Saturday, 16th June 2012 – the world of Rallying witnessed yet another fatal accident which took away the life of Lucie Vauthier, a young female rally driver from France.
28-year old Lucie, and co-pilot Cécile Pages, struck the rails of a bridge during a special stage, which sent the Citroën C2 R2 Max they were in crashing right into a tree.
Lucie and Cecile were immediately transferred to a hospital; the former was diagnosed with severe head injury which put her in a coma on the night of June 17th 2012, while the latter was given the all clear. Lucie Vauthier was declared dead on Thursday, 21st of June 2012.
Investigations are currently being held to determine the cause of the accident.
