M-Sport confirms Mikko Hirvonen and Elfyn Evans for 2014, Robert Kubica as well

M-Sport World Rally Team has officially confirmed Mikko Hirvonen and Elfyn Evans as their drivers for the 2014 season of the World Rally Championship. Both drivers will contest all 13 rounds of the season.

Hirvonen returns to M-Sport after 2 years with Citroen; the Finn started his WRC career with the Ford/M-Sport operation in 2003, clinched fourteen victories with the team and helped it secure back-to-back manufacturers’ titles in 2006 and 2007.

Evans’ breakthrough performance in 2013 saw him elevated to the top of WRC competition. The Welshman showcased some impressive pace in the WRC 2 category, especially at the Rally Italia Sardegna, in which he finished sixth overall.

M-Sport lost its star driver Thierry Neuville to Hyundai, while Mads Ostberg moved to Citroen.

WRC2 champion and ex-Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica has been also confirmed by the British squad; the Pole was promoted to a WRC drive with Citroen at the 2013 Wales Rally GB but failed to impress after crashing twice during the event. He will race for M-Sport under the Lotos World Rally Team banner.
