December 21, 2015 – Andy House, a man who drove a 2006 Bugatti Veyron into a lake back in November 2009, has been recently sentenced to one year and one day in prison.
House intentionally drove his Veyron into a lake in Texas on November 11, 2009 and called the supercar’s insurance company the following day to file a claim worth $2.2 million US dollars.
Initially, he said he crashed because he was reaching for his phone, but later changed his story, claiming that a bird had flown in front of the car. However, the truth was revealed when footage of his crash emerged, showing that he did the whole thing on purpose to gain insurance money.
House will have to pay $600,000 for the insurance company, beside serving his 1-year sentence.
