Maserati GT2 Stradale: A 640-HP Race Car for the Road

The Maserati GT2 Stradale, a 640-hp lightweight supercar packed with carbon fiber, combines race car performance with street-legal usability.

As expected in the world of supercars, Maserati has unveiled a more extreme version of its MC20—the Maserati GT2 Stradale. This road-legal supercar is lighter, racier, and more powerful, while maintaining the beauty of the original MC20. Inspired by Maserati’s GT2 race car, the Stradale brings aggressive styling with additional carbon fiber elements and strategically placed scoops for enhanced aerodynamics. Its “shark nose” front end is larger to optimize airflow, and the adjustable carbon fiber spoiler can generate up to 1,102 pounds of downforce at 174 mph.

Powering the GT2 Stradale is the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V-6 engine, now upgraded to deliver 640 horsepower, making it the most powerful iteration of the engine yet. The car is also 132 pounds lighter than the standard MC20, with a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of around 201 mph.

For daily practicality, the GT2 Stradale includes features like a 3.5 cubic-foot trunk and a nose-lift system that raises the front by 1.4 inches. The car offers a lower driving position with new seats available in two sizes and optional three- or four-point harness attachments.

Maserati emphasizes that the GT2 Stradale is a race car built for the road, blending the best attributes of the GT2 and MC20 to deliver a supercar focused on driving pleasure. While pricing details haven’t been announced, the extensive use of carbon fiber suggests it won’t come cheap.
