Mathieu Reboisson: If the team wants me to race, I’ll race

We meet with Rayes Competition driver, Mathieu Reboisson and discuss his current and upcoming plans.

Mathieu you skipped the first Hill Climb this year, but came back and did well in Falougha with a 4th place finish. After Falougha you caused a bit of controversy with your statement on Facebook regarding your sponsors which was a message aimed at ATCL. Tell us all about it.

There was a misunderstanding between us and ATCL in Falougha, we then met with Gaby Kreiker and the organizing committee to further discuss the situation, and both parties understood the situation.

So it’s all good now?
Yes, it’s all good. I would like to thank them. Gaby was very honest and everything’s all clear now. It was a misunderstanding.

What are your plans for this season? You started a bit late.
Yeah I did, this whole season is messed up a bit. I was busy with work so I had to skip the first Hill Climb, but now I quit, I didn’t like it, so I’m ready for the upcoming events.

Do you have Rallying in mind this year?
It all goes down to the team, if they want me to go Rallying, I’ll go Rallying.

Rayes Competition and Rayes Racing Parts have been sponsoring you for many years. What can you tell us about them and how did the relationship start between you?

They take all the decisions, like I said, if they want me to drive, I’ll drive, if not then no. I’m now part of them and they’re a part of me. I’ve tried a lot of teams, but it’s a bit like when you get used to a certain restaurant, so there’s trust between us, we’re now a full team.

I just wish there were more teams like Rayes Competition, if they can get more sponsors they can surely expand their car and driver lineup. We saw them sponsor drivers such as Dany Mazloum, so it’s not just about me.

Any last words?
I would like to thank Rayes Competition and Rayes Racing Parts; they’re like a family to me. I wouldn’t be here without them. Last year we ended up 3rd in the Lebanese Hill Climb Championship. We’re gonna try to attend all of the events, it’s all about the budget in the end. Hopefully we’ll contest Cedars Rally this year, it would mean a lot to me and to them.
