Meet Shockwave, the world’s fastest truck

This is Shockwave, the world’s fastest – and scariest – truck. Shockwave is actually so fast it can travel the Lebanese coastline from South to North in less than 30 minutes.

Shockwave’s secret to success is its three Pratt & Whitney J34-48 jet engines. Each jet engine produces 12,000 horsepower in afterburner mode, meaning a maximum output of 36,000 horsepower or 36 Bugatti Veyrons.

The Peterbilt truck holds the world record for fastest jet-engined full-size truck at 605 km/h, which makes it faster than a Shinkansen (Japanese bullet train) or French TGV.

Shockwave was first built in 1984; it was bought and rebuilt in 2012 by father and son Neal and Chris Darnell. Watch the truck in action at a recent show in Cayuga, Ontario, Canada.
