Mercedes-Benz confirms A45 AMG

Early reports suggested the AMG version of the A-Class would be called the A25 AMG, which would coincide with the A250 naming. Now, Mercedes-Benz has shed light on the matter revealing the car is indeed called the A45 AMG at an event that celebrated 45 years since the AMG brand was founded.

Despite neglecting to tell us the horsepower, which is rumored to be 330 horsepower, Mercedes confirms the A45 AMG will use a new 2.0-liter turbo engine with maximum torque significantly above 400 Nm.

Power is directed to the standard all-wheel drive system via the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

The A45 AMG will have its public debut during the first quarter of 2013 – most likely at the Geneva Motor Show – and will be the first of many upcoming AMG compact cars.
