January 16, 2017 – In an expected move from Mercedes, the German Formula 1 team has officially confirmed Valtteri Bottas as Lewis Hamilton’s team-mate for the 2017 season.
Bottas’ departure to Mercedes to replace Nico Rosberg has forced Felipe Massa to backtrack on his decision to retire from the sport and the Brazilian will thus race for Williams alongside teenager Lance Stroll.
Bottas has spent all his F1 racing career with Williams, having made his debut in 2013. The 27-year-old has scored nine podium finishes but is yet to win a race or start from pole position. Meanwhile, Massa will be enjoying his 15th season in Formula 1 and his 3rd for Williams.
