Meet MINI MEGA; a superhero that all MINI cars follow, living in a world where cars are not only a means of transport but an experience and expression of a lifestyle choice.
With super natural powers, MINI MEGA can take on any personality, shape, size, and colour according to his surrounding energies. He can rotate his head 360 degrees, remove his arms and ears, in fact there is nothing that he can’t do.
Late this summer, the superhero landed in Lebanon with one simple mission; to meet and inspire creativity amongst university students in Beirut. The result? 12 MINI MEGAs, all unique in style and personality.
These little superheroes are, in fact, the result of a MINI MEGA Design competition launched last month as part of Project: MEGA, an initiative founded by Emirati designer and artist Mohammed Abedin to inspire creativity by commissioning artists from various fields of art, design and photography to reinterpret the MEGA – a campaign that MINI has supported since MEGA’s debut in 2010.
MINI challenged students from five universities in Beirut to create their very own MEGA character. From the 12 MEGA toys submitted, the MINI Design team based in Munich chose the two best entries – Lama Assaf from the Lebanese American University and Nicolas Maalouf from Notre Dame University. Also, Chady Baytamouni from the Lebanese University won the 3rd place through online voting. MINI joined students, parents and university staff to celebrate the winners in an exclusive event held on October 11th, at Bassoul- Heneine sal showroom in Sad El Bauchrieh, Beirut.
Natalie Khalife, Marketing and Communications Manager at Bassoul-Heneine sal, in Lebanon said: “Project MEGA is all about individuality, talent and creativity, things that are fundamental to the MINI brand. A MINI MEGA design competition was therefore the platform for us to help young and talented individuals in Lebanon get creative. The standard of entries was very high and we hope that the students’ creations spark inspiration in others too.”
