Mini officially signs for WRC 2012 as a Manufacturer

After missing out the deadline for registering in the World Rally Championship for the year 2012, mini is officially in.

After missing out the deadline for registering in the World Rally Championship for the year 2012, and after too much speculation and questions about Mini’s commitment to WRC, they do commit after all. Mini will be an official Manufacturer in the 2012 WRC championship alongside Citroen and Ford, but with some deficiencies. Mini will only run 1 driver for supposedly all the rounds of the championship, and this guy is Dani Sordo. Mini dropped Kris Meeke for the opening round of the championship in Monte Carlo and full participation in the championship is subject to an improvement in the way the WRC is covered in many places most importantly in Germany. Mini’s mother company BMW has been rumored to have many remarks on the way “North One” the official media partner of WRC have been promoting the sport in Germany and things have become worse when the company has went into administration last month.

It will remain unclear what will happen in WRC, so we should wait and see. For now though Mini is a Manufacturer in the 2012 WRC championship. Crossed Fingers!!!
