Laurens Vanthoor, the driver of the Audi R8 LMS, oversteered into a barrier just a few seconds after being overtaken for the lead by a rival Porsche. The heavy crash caused the Audi to flip on its roof.

As a result of the incident, the race was stopped and the stewards declared the winner based on the results of the previous lap, meaning Vanthoor – who escaped unharmed – claimed the win ahead of Earl Bamber in the Porsche 911 RSR.
