The 2011 DAKAR might be a very special one for the Arabs. Last year Qatari driver Nasser Al- Attiyah came so close to winning his first ever Dakar but to fall short to teams orders allowing teammate and rally legend Carlos Sainz to claim the crown. Although Carlos still has the edge over Nasser because he drove the new VOLKSWAGEN RACE TOUAREG 3 before Dakar and Nasser didn’t.
Never the less Nasser seems very confident this year after the RACE TOUAREG team ensured him that this year equal opportunities will be given to all drivers and he will be given green lights to attack Carlos all year.
3 stages have gone and Carlos leads Both Nasser and Stephan Peterhensel by around 3 minutes. The race is long and many changes are expected.
Can Nasser do it and become the first Arab to win Dakar?
If he does it, he will be winning the Arabs their biggest ever motorsport title.
