Nasser Al-Attiyah looking to team up with M-Sport

Nasser Al-Attiyah has confirmed he is chasing a deal to run a three-car Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team next season, as he hopes to conclude negotiations with M-Sport managing director Malcolm Wilson this weekend.

A Qatar deal, led by Al-Attiyah, has been talked about since Ford’s decision to withdraw from the World Rally Championship last month.

“We will be discussing next year with Malcolm. It’s very important to keep M-Sport in the championship and we are hoping to find a good solution.” said Al-Attiyah ahead of the Cyprus Rally.

He added: “A three-car M-Sport team, if the deal comes off, is our target.”

Petter Solberg is expected to lead the team with Al-Attiyah competing in seven WRC rounds on the Fiesta.
