Nasser Al-Attiyah secured a record seventh Jordan Rally victory this afternoon after a dominant performance throughout the weekend; the Qatari, who was behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta S2000, won 7 of the 8 special stages on Thursday, but his dominance was interrupted on the second day when Roger Feghali took command of the morning loop.
Feghali won the fourth special stage on Thursday, he then controlled the first four stages on Friday morning to finish second overall, more than 1 minute and a half behind Al-Attiyah. Feghali’s position was jeopardized on the penultimate stage when Khalid Al-Qassimi closed the gap to 9 seconds, but the Lebanese driver fought back on SS16 and ensured a runner-up position.
Khalid Al-Qassimi settled for a third-place finish ahead of Abulaziz Al-Kuwari who enjoyed a rather lonely rally and crossed the line 4 minutes and 24 seconds clear of Al-Attiyah.
More details to follow soon.
