March 3, 2015 – The Automobile & Touring Club of Lebanon (ATCL) has published the official new Sporting Code for the 2015 Lebanese motorsport season today.
The most notable change this year is an overhaul of the points system in the Rally, Hill Climb and Speed Test championships. Last year, the top 6 drivers in all three championships were awarded 30-25-22-20-18-16 points respectively. However, the system has changed to 25-23-21-19-17-15 for 2015. Drivers in seventh place to 20th place will earn points in the following manner: 14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-4-3-2-1.
Additionally, the top 5 finishers in the class classifications in all three championships (Rally, Hill Climb, Speed Test) now earn points in the following form: 5-4-3-2-1 points, whereas only the top 3 drivers were awarded with points last year (5-3-1 pts).
The new Sporting Code mentions that drivers competing in the Lebanese Rally Championship on FIA homologated cars will also score points by participating in the Lebanese Hill Climb Championship. However, only the best two results will count in case of several Hill Climb participations. Scored points will be awarded in accordance with the aforementioned points system.
