Official: ex-Lotus team principal Eric Boullier moves to McLaren

Eric Boullier has officially become a member of McLaren’s Formula 1 racing squad, the team has confirmed today via a statement on its official website.

Having previously worked as Lotus’ team principal between 2010 and 2013, Boullier will take on the role of racing director at McLaren. It had been expected that Boullier would take the team principal role, but McLaren now looks set to implement a structure where there is no straight team boss.

Eric Boullier said: “First of all, I regard this appointment as an honour, a privilege and a wonderful opportunity.

“The McLaren Racing workforce and the facilities at the McLaren Technology Centre are world-class, and I’m hugely excited about the prospect of joining such an outstanding team.

“I’m both eager and determined to play an active part, working alongside McLaren Racing’s other senior managers and directors, within a new operational structure, to bring about the changes that will deliver success.
