OMAN’S AL-ZUBAIR ANNOUNCES PLANS TO TACKLE PORSCHE MOBIL 1 SUPER CUP

BEIRUT (LEBANON): Oman’s Al-Faisal Al-Zubair announced his plans to take part in the 2018 Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup at a packed press reception at Le Royal Hotel in Beirut on Tuesday evening.

The recently crowned Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East Champion will again team up with Lechner Racing in a bid to improve on the 14th place he earned in his maiden season in the world famous 10-race Porsche series that supports rounds of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

Lebanon has a rich history of motor sport and a strong Formula One and racing following and it was a fitting country to host Al-Faisal’s racing announcement.

Al-Zubair said: “Lebanon has the culture and one of the oldest automobile sport clubs in the Middle East region. The country is also an oasis for sport media and more than 100 journalists attended our press reception from magazines, daily newspapers, Internet and television and radio networks.

“The owner of Le Royal Hotel is also a very keen motor sport enthusiast and was the owner of the former A1 team from Lebanon, a World Championship that started back in 2004.”

Oman Television intends to offer live broadcasts from each of the rounds of the Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup, starting in Spain this weekend, in addition to live practice and qualifying.
