Omoda has officially revealed the new 7 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid SUV set to launch this August. Designed under Chery’s growing EV-focused sub-brand, the Omoda 7 combines futuristic styling with serious efficiency thanks to its SHS (Super Hybrid System) powertrain.
At its core is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, working alongside an electric motor and battery to deliver 345 horsepower and 387 lb-ft of torque. With an impressive 44.5% thermal efficiency, the system is designed for long-distance capability, offering a total range of 745 miles, including 56 miles of electric-only driving. Omoda claims a 0–62 mph time of 8.5 seconds. The battery supports DC fast charging, enabling a 30–80% charge in just 20 minutes.
Design-wise, the Omoda 7 slots neatly between the brand’s smaller Omoda 5 and the larger Omoda 9. It features a distinctive grille with a chainmail-like texture, sharp body lines, and lightning bolt-style taillights—a bold evolution in the brand’s styling language.
Interior details remain mostly under wraps, but it’s expected to inherit high-tech features from the flagship Omoda 5, such as a 20.5-inch infotainment setup, dual-zone climate control, rearview camera, and possibly heated front seats, smartphone connectivity, and a Sony audio system.
The Omoda 7 will launch as a core model in the brand’s hybrid lineup, emphasizing range, advanced technology, and modern design. A seven-year/100,000-mile warranty adds reassurance for future owners.
