Oscar Piastri Dominates Bahrain Grand Prix for McLaren
Oscar Piastri claimed an impressive win at the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix, securing his second Formula 1 victory of the season and moving up to second in the drivers’ championship standings. The McLaren driver now trails his teammate, Lando Norris, by just three points.
Celebrating his 50th F1 race start, the Australian led from pole and delivered a flawless performance, crossing the finish line a commanding 15.5 seconds ahead of the competition. “That was pretty damn fun. Mega weekend everyone,” Piastri said after the race, hinting at big celebrations ahead.
While Piastri pulled away, the real battle unfolded behind him. George Russell of Mercedes managed to fend off Norris to finish second, despite struggling with gearbox and DRS issues during his final stint on soft tyres.
Norris, who started sixth, still claimed third place, even after receiving a five-second penalty for an incorrect starting position. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and fifth respectively—marking Hamilton’s best result with Ferrari since his recent switch.
Meanwhile, defending champion Max Verstappen finished sixth for Red Bull after a series of pit stop setbacks, and Pierre Gasly took seventh, earning Alpine’s first points of the season.
This marks Piastri’s fourth career win, and following his earlier triumph at the Chinese Grand Prix, he becomes the first double winner of the 2025 F1 season.
