[singlepic id=6887 w=320 h=240 float=left]After 2 difficult races in the Lebanese karting championship Patrick Njeim the current double champion proved himself the man to beat yet again. Patrick went on to win both the 2nd and the 3rd round of the championship and we met him after both races that took place in the same day and had some quick chats.
Round 2 Race
You started 3rd but after around 10 laps you managed to jump to second and then later on to first place, tell us a bit about how things went on.
We had a weird start that nobody was expecting. The only people who were ready were the people in the front. I adapted quickly and then I caught my brother who was struggling with his car and I had difficulties passing him. After 10 laps, we took a strategic choice and he let me pass since he was not being able to catch the car in front.
I was also struggling to catch the car in front especially with overheating and all the problems we suffered. Anyway everybody was struggling so I pushed hard to catch first place…
How was the grip on the track?
The grip was good on the first 10 laps. Later on its started to deteriorate. When I started pushing for the win I started to suffer badly. I didn’t expect to pass in the way I did but in general it was a good race.
What do you expect in the next race?
First of all if it was me and my brother I will have to give him back the position he game me. I owe to him. We will see about the next race hopefully everything goes fine.
Round 3 Race
This time around you led from first place and went on to win. Tell us more about the race.
I qualified first and it was really very tight. Everybody was within 0.1 second from the other. I was not expecting to put a big gap in the race although this was my target from the beginning. Anyway I worked hard and it paid of. The tyres wore out more than expected for everybody.
You didn’t give your brother the position as expected.
I was willing to give the position but I was waiting for dad’s signal, but Micheal Patrick Azar was very close and he is close to me in the championship points so we decided not to do it. We did not want to risk. Anyway now I’m 10 points ahead so next race I can easily give back the track position to Mattias my brother.
Your championship situation looks good. Tell us about your expectations.
It’s looking good. It will be great to do a hatrick of championships. It will help me find sponsors and some teams might ask me to join for racing with them. I hope the season ends peacefully and I hope I can win.
