Peugeot brings back its iconic GTI badge, this time on the fully electric e-208 GTI. After a five-year pause, the performance nameplate enters the EV era, enhanced by the team behind the 9X8 Hypercar.
The new e-208 GTI features several styling upgrades that nod to the classic 205 GTI. These include a redesigned front lip, a larger rear wing, and a bold diffuser with an integrated LED fog light. Black wheel arches, red brake calipers, and signature GTI badging further highlight its sporty character. The standout metallic red paint adds extra presence.
The chassis sits 30mm lower with a wider stance—56mm at the front and 27mm at the rear—improving handling and visual aggression. The 18-inch ‘Hole’ alloy wheels, inspired by the original 205 GTI, are both a nostalgic and functional addition, helping cool the brakes.
Power comes from an electric motor producing 276bhp and 254lb ft of torque. It launches from 0 to 62mph in 5.7 seconds and tops out at 112mph. Peugeot also fits larger 355mm front brakes to handle the added performance.
Driving dynamics are further enhanced by a limited-slip differential, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and updated suspension with revised springs, shocks, and hydraulic stops. Steering response has been sharpened, all contributing to what Peugeot calls true GTI handling.
The battery has been upgraded to 54kWh, offering a claimed range of 217 miles. It supports 100kW DC fast charging, with 20 to 80 percent charge possible in just 30 minutes.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed with sporty red accents, striped sports seats, Alcantara on the steering wheel, and custom stitching. The 10-inch touchscreen and digital driver display also feature GTI-specific graphics. A ‘sound generator’ option adds an artificial performance soundtrack, continuing a trend first seen in the Abarth 500e.
With classic GTI flair and modern electric power, the Peugeot e-208 GTI blends heritage with high-tech performance. It’s a bold return for the GTI name and marks a new chapter for the hot hatch in the electric age.
