Drift a Mile in Safe Style, an event organized by Peugeot Sport Lebanon has taken in place in Tal El Zaatar, Dekweneh military airport on Saturday April 27.
In collaboration with Dekweneh Municipality, YASA, LASIP, Metni Racing Team, SIDIA Sal, Biser3a, Arab tuning magazine, Grand Cinemas, Beiruting.com, Commercial Insurance, Beirut Circle, and Pixel Art.
The event was divided into four main parts. First, Peugeot Sport Lebanon cars were displayed along with eight 2013 sports cars by Peugeot – Sidia Sal. Then, a competition among public cars and 4X4 took place. The competition took into consideration the cars’ paint job, body and exterior modifications, suspension, wheels and tires, interior modifications, audio, exhaust systems, and under hood beauty.
After that, YASA, in collaboration with the Civil Defense, performed a live crash simulation to help prevent injury aggravation further to any car’s accident. Peugeot Sport Lebanon was the first car group in the middle east to introduce such awareness in a drifting competition and car event. Red Cross – Beit Mery team explained later on about the importance of blood donation, and how this process has saved the lives of many accident victims including a small simulation on how to treat an injured person after a car accident.
Finally, the long awaited drift organized by the group was successfully achieved. Lovers of this super dynamic sport activity were able to witness the combination of drifting safely, in a closed track. “We, as Peugeot Sport Lebanon encourage all other car groups to follow the same path, and develop further the practice of this active sport on closed circuits,” said Mauricio Azar, Administrator of the group. Azar was behind several other group activities and projects, such as adobting a Cedar tree in Arz al Barouk preserve, the christmas event aimed to collect gifts for children in need during Christmas holidays and not to forget the We Care event, an initiative that gave back to the disadvantaged children of Convent St. Simon-Baskinta.
Peugeot Sport Lebanon took good care of designing the track for this particular show. Over 20 drifters have put the audience on fire. Drifters’ performance was judged depending on the map’s accurate submission, line, and angle, set by Peugeot Sport Lebanon. The jury made an allowance also for the car’s overall performance and the audience’s reaction. The winners were Kifah Hilal, Bahaa and Hadi Abdl Hadi.
Peugeot Sport Lebanon celebrated with winners and granted certifications of appreciation to the sponsors of the event, and to who made this event as successful.
