During the final Top 40 Qualifying session for the 2013 Nurburgring 24 Hours, which saw several contenders battle for pole, Phoenix Racing‘s #4 Audi R8 LMS ultra emerged as the car to beat by posting a 8:17.212 around the Green Hell, enough to hand it the first starting position for tomorrow’s race.
Aston Martin Racing‘s #7 Vantage GT3 went second quickest, followed by Abt Team Mamerow’s #2 Audi R8 who will be sharing the second starting row with Manthey Racing’s #26 Porsche 911 GT3 R in fourth.
G-Drive Racing by Phoenix gave Audi three top 5 positions by scoring the fifth fastest lap ahead of the #9 Black Falcon SLS AMG GT3 and the #25 BMW Z4 of BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS.
BMW Team Schubert was a pleasant qualifying surprise; the German team was down in 41st and 46th in Qualifying 2, but the #20 Z4 GT3 sure gave the team something to smile about by going 8th quickest, 7 positions ahead of its sister #19 car.
The car that dominated the first two qualifying sessions, Black Falcon‘s #10 SLS AMG GT3, will be starting the race from the 5th row, having qualified 9th ahead of Belgian Audi Club Team WRT‘s #29 Audi R18.
Tomorrow’s race, which is scheduled to start at 17:00 (GMT +2), will be extremely hard to predict and surely promises a lot of excitement. It will definitely be any team’s to win.
