Phoenix Racing Audi storms to 24 Hours of Nurburgring pole

During the final Top 40 Qualifying session for the 2013 Nurburgring 24 Hours, which saw several contenders battle for pole, Phoenix Racing‘s #4 Audi R8 LMS ultra emerged as the car to beat by posting a 8:17.212 around the Green Hell, enough to hand it the first starting position for tomorrow’s race.

Aston Martin Racing‘s #7 Vantage GT3 went second quickest, followed by Abt Team Mamerow’s #2 Audi R8 who will be sharing the second starting row with Manthey Racing’s #26 Porsche 911 GT3 R in fourth.

G-Drive Racing by Phoenix gave Audi three top 5 positions by scoring the fifth fastest lap ahead of the #9 Black Falcon SLS AMG GT3 and the #25 BMW Z4 of BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS.

BMW Team Schubert was a pleasant qualifying surprise; the German team was down in 41st and 46th in Qualifying 2, but the #20 Z4 GT3 sure gave the team something to smile about by going 8th quickest, 7 positions ahead of its sister #19 car.

The car that dominated the first two qualifying sessions, Black Falcon‘s #10 SLS AMG GT3, will be starting the race from the 5th row, having qualified 9th ahead of Belgian Audi Club Team WRT‘s #29 Audi R18.

Tomorrow’s race, which is scheduled to start at 17:00 (GMT +2), will be extremely hard to predict and surely promises a lot of excitement. It will definitely be any team’s to win.
