Oscar Piastri delivered a dominant performance in the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix, bouncing back from his Australian GP disappointment to secure a commanding victory. Starting from pole, Piastri controlled the 56-lap race at Shanghai International Circuit, leading McLaren teammate Lando Norris to a perfect 1-2 finish.
Throughout the race, Piastri maintained a flawless pace, building and managing a gap to Norris, who was never able to challenge for the lead. The race primarily revolved around pit stop strategies, with most drivers opting for a single stop. Piastri’s well-managed stints allowed him to hold a steady advantage, while Norris faced a brake issue in the final laps, which McLaren advised him to handle with caution, securing the team’s second-place finish.
George Russell briefly gained second place after pit stops but couldn’t hold onto it, finishing third behind Norris. Max Verstappen struggled with the Red Bull throughout the weekend and finished fourth, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton battled for position. Leclerc, despite racing with a damaged front wing, finished ahead of Hamilton, who opted for a two-stop strategy that hindered his progress.
Esteban Ocon impressed with a seventh-place finish for Haas, followed by Kimi Antonelli, Alex Albon, and Ollie Bearman. Carlos Sainz placed 13th for Williams, and Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar had a difficult race, finishing 14th after a late clash with Jack Doohan. Fernando Alonso retired early with brake issues.
