Porsche 718 Spyder RS Panamericana Special Honors Racing History

The one-off Porsche 718 Spyder RS pays tribute to the 1954 Carrera Panamericana rally with unique design, commemorating Porsche’s racing legacy.

Porsche has introduced a one-of-a-kind 718 Spyder RS, dubbed the “Panamericana Special,” to commemorate 70 years since its third-place finish in the legendary 1954 Carrera Panamericana rally. This victory helped establish Porsche’s motorsport credibility and cemented the “Carrera” name in automotive history.

The Panamericana Special features striking “Cenenaire Silver” paint on all its aerodynamically enhanced body panels, including the carbon body kit, NACA ducts, air intakes, and the Gurney Flap rear wing. Magnesium wheels, paired with ceramic brakes, complete the performance-focused look.

Inside, the mostly black interior includes leather accents in high-touch areas, while a “Carmine Red” steering wheel and bucket seats add a bold contrast. The headrests are embroidered with unique badging, and other custom touches include bespoke floor mats and an integrated watch mount.

A standout feature of this edition is the illuminated door sills, showcasing the Mexican flag on the driver’s side and the silhouette of a Porsche 550 Spyder on the passenger side—an homage to the car that competed in the 1954 rally. This detail enhances the special edition’s connection to its motorsport roots, and it’s a feature that could be a welcome addition to all 718 Spyders.

With its design details and historical significance, the 718 Spyder RS Panamericana Special perfectly honors Porsche’s racing legacy while celebrating one of its most memorable motorsport achievements.
