Porsche Cayenne breaks world record by towing an Airbus A380

May 3, 2017 – In 2006, a Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI broke the world record for “heaviest aircraft pulled by a production car” by successfully pulling a 155-tonne Boeing 747 passenger plane. Seven years later, a Nissan Patrol broke the same record as it towed a 170-tonne Ilyushin II-76 cargo plane.

A few days ago, Porsche used a Cayenne S Diesel to shatter Nissan’s record. The German SUV managed to pull the world’s biggest passenger airliner, the Airbus A380, over a distance of 42-metres at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. The airplane weighs 285 tonnes, which means a gargantuan 115-tonne difference between the Cayenne S and the Patrol’s records.

The Cayenne S Diesel is powered by a 4.2-litre V8 engine producing 380bhp and 850 Nm of torque.
