January 27, 2016 – Porsche has officially revealed the new 718 Boxster, a heavily revised 981-generation Boxster with a new name.
The new 718 Boxster gets new headlight and taillight units, new front and rear bumpers, in addition to a slightly revised interior with a dashboard that has circular air vents, a new steering wheel and an updated Porsche Communication Management system.
The entry-level 718 Boxster is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat four engine that makes 300 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque – 35 hp and 100 Nm more than its predecessor; the more powerful 718 Boxster S features a turbocharged 2.5-liter flat four engine with 350 hp and 420 Nm of torque – an increase of 35 hp and 60 Nm of torque.
When equipped with the PDK transmission and the Sport Chrono Package, the 718 Boxster can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 275 km/h, whilst S version completes the same sprint in 4.0 seconds before topping out at 285 km/h.
