Our photographer Akl Yazbeck has recently arrived to the world’s most famous track: Germany’s Nurburgring. The 24-kilometer track will host the sixth round of the 2013 VLN Endurance Championship this weekend in which Saudi driver Abdulaziz Turki Al Faisal will take part on a Schubert-prepped BMW Z4 GT3. Here’s a photoblog of Akl’s experience so far.
Clear blue skies at the Nurburgring, but heavy wind is surely not to be underestimated.
One of many Porsche 911s participating in the event; the 911 has always been the weapon of choice for lots of teams.
Mechanics hard at work in preparation for the weekend.
Organizers handing out what appears to be numbered stickers for contestants.
A mechanic flashing a smile in the pitlane. We wonder what he’s looking at.
Young kid enjoying a small treat – what we locally call a “Tarboush” – at the track.
Most cars getting out on track, Aston Martin, Porsche, Audi and a wide variety of other brands.
At the start/finish straight’s pitwall, a keen look at the racecars passing by.
Schubert Motorsport’s BMW Z4 GT3 lurking in the team’s garage.
Safety first!
