President of Gabon spent 18 million dollars in one day on luxury cars

December 29, 2014 – Paris-based television channel France 24 has obtained documents and photos revealing how much Gabonese president Ali Bongo spent on luxury cars in one day.

The documents, which date back to January 2010, contain an 18-million-dollar sales contract for 29 luxury vehicles, including two Maybach 62S (605,000 dollar each), two Rolls Royce Phantoms (527,000 dollars each) and two Rolls Royce Ghosts (323,000 dollars each).

All cars from the list have a combined value of 9.6 million dollars but the total transaction stood at 18 million dollars, including service & maintenance and other related costs like a repair shop and the necessary equipment.

According to France 24, the French authorities are investigating these potentially illegally-acquired assets that were purchased in France by using Gabonese taxpayers’ money.
