August 22, 2015 – Volkswagen Motorsport dominated the first day of the ninth round of the 2015 World Rally Championship in Germany, with Sebastien Ogier leading the way in the end.
Ogier was in top form, winning seven of the day’s eight special stages, with teammate Jari-Matti Latvala taking one stage victory (SS3), to finish in second place, 9.5 seconds behind Ogier.
Andreas Mikkelsen enters the second day of competition in third place overall, ahead of the battling Hyundais of Dani Sordo and Thierry Neuville who are 2 seconds apart.
Nasser Al-Attiyah was expected to fight at the front but dropped a minute after going off the road in SS1 and a further minute with a puncture two stages later. He recovered to complete the top six in his new Fabia R5.
