Rally-Inspired Lotus Elise S1 Transforms Into Off-Road Beast

Meet Project Safari, a bold reinterpretation of the iconic Lotus Elise S1, built by UK-based design and engineering outfit Get Lost. Designed to conquer both tarmac and trails, this rally-ready Elise is unlike anything we’ve seen before—and we’re absolutely hooked.

Project Safari raises the stakes with all-terrain tires and a custom suspension system that lifts the ride height by 100mm. This off-road setup improves body control and boosts driver confidence, without compromising the Elise’s famously nimble handling. To handle rougher terrain, the underbody has been reinforced, while a limited-slip differential and hydraulic handbrake add serious driving capability.

Although the exact powertrain details remain under wraps, Get Lost promises performance and reliability, keeping with Lotus’s engineering spirit. Visually, the car is a true rally icon, featuring a roof scoop, floating rear wing, and a spare tire mount that screams purpose-built adventure. White rally-style alloys complete the aggressive stance.

Lighting is upgraded with bi-LED rectangular headlights, and inside, custom seating ensures taller drivers fit comfortably—something rare in classic Elise models. This isn’t just a tuned-up Lotus; it’s a full-blown reimagination.

“We didn’t just modify an Elise—we built what it could be,” says George Williams, Get Lost founder. “If you get it, you get us. If not? Get Lost.”

Customer builds are expected to begin later this year. Now all we need is an S1 to transform.
