January 23, 2015 – Volkswagen’s Sebastien Ogier has managed to reduce the gap to the Monte Carlo Rally leader Sebastien Loeb on the first loop of the second day, which consisted of three special stages (SS3, SS4 and SS5).
Ogier initially lost 15 seconds to the Citroen driver on today’s opening stage, but he was faster than the nine-times world rally champion on the second and third stages, reducing the gap in the overall standings to just 3 seconds.
Robert Kubica, who dropped back yesterday after an electrical problem in his Ford, put on an impressive performance this morning and won in SS4 and SS5.
Jari-Matta Latvala maintained third overall and is now more than a minute behind the leaders, while Ott Tanak also held on to his position and currently lies fourth.
