Rally of Lebanon 2012 Instant Updates

 

20:10 PM – It’s a wrap here at ATCL HQ.

20:04 PM –  Abdul Aziz Alkuwari: “Lebanese drivers are very quick, even in the front-wheel drive category.”

20:01 PM – After being asked why he chose a Mini, Abdo answered: “It has air conditioning and three airbags (giggles).”

19:51 PM – Ghassan Khoury: “It has been a great Rally for us, sixth overall, first in the front-wheel drive category. It’s a great result.”

19:49 PM – Chafic Boulos: “Big thanks to whoever supported me throughout this event. This is the first season we compete for wins. Our main competitor today was Nick Georgiou.”

19:44 PM – Roger: “Nasser’s presence would’ve been great, I wish he was here with us today.” 

19:42 PM – Roger Feghali: “I never thought that I would win Rally of Lebanon ten times. It’s a great feeling.”

19:38 PM –  The press conference is has just started. Roger Feghali, Abdo Feghali, Abdul Aziz Alkuwari, Chafic Boulos  and Ghassan Khoury are all seated.

19:30 PM – Drivers are currently entering the conference room at the ATCL HQ in Kaslik.

19:00 PM – Roger celebrating his 10th Rally of Lebanon victory prior to the ceremony.

18:00 PM – Nick Georgiou retired from the Rally after an accident on SS12. Luckily, him and his co-driver escaped with no injuries.

17:53 PM – Year after year, Roger Feghali is proving himself unbeatable. The Ford driver is unofficially the Rally of Lebanon 2012 champion. Abdo is second. All official results will be posted soon!

17:23 PM –  Roger storms to SS12 lead, Abdo seems to be facing some problems after posting a rather slow time compared to his competitors.

16:43 PM – The final stage will be contested in Bteghrine with Roger looking set for another dominant victory.

16:39 PM – Abdul Aziz Alkuwari was third in SS11, great result for the Qatari so far. The last stage “SS12” has just started.

15:50 PM –  Roger Feghali goes quickest in SS11 with a 17:17.0, Abdo is second 14.4 seconds behind. Nick Georgiou is in third position, a massive 1 minute 11 seconds further adrift.

13:06 PM – SS9 has been delayed a bit due to the numerous accidents, still 11 drivers with no time.

12:28 PM – The two accidents of Gilbert Bannout (Up) and Sleiman Jalekh (Bottom) in SS9.

12:20 PM – Fadi Hammadeh is out of the Rally due to a gearbox problem.

12:00 AM – Sleiman Jalekh and his co-pilot Mathieu Reboisson just go out of an accident in SS9.

11:39 AM – Gilbert Bannout crashed out from SS9! Him and his co-pilot seem to be okay, the organizers are now trying to get the car back on track.

11:37 AM – Abdul Aziz Alkuwari is setting some impressive times, he went 4th quickest in SS9.

11:23 AM – Roger Feghali quickest on SS9, Rodrigue Rahi is second ahead of Nick Georgiou. Abdo Feghali dropped to fifth place, something must have happened to him.

11:10 AM – Drivers participating in the Super Rally Stage: Bassel Abou Hamdan, Eddy Bou Karam, Hicham Al-Abiad, Jawad Slim, Joe Azzi, Ala’a Rashid, Chadi Fakieh.

11:06 AM – Roger was a massive 53 seconds faster than Abdo in SS8. SS9 got under way almost 10 minutes ago.

10:11 AM – Nicolas Amiouni is reportedly out due to an engine failure. What a huge blow for the young Evo X driver!

10:00 AM –As usual, Roger goes quickest of all in SS8, 13 seconds faster than his second-placed brother Abdo.

09:16 AM – 10 minutes to go before the start of SS8 at Kefraya.

09:13 AM – Eddy Bou Karam, Bassel Abou Hamdan and Ala’a Rashid are all participating in the Super Rally Stage.

08:45 AM – Gilbert Bannout seems to have suffered a minor accident, damaging his front bumper.

08:42 AM – Ghassan Khoury is currently leading the Front-wheel drive category, he goes fastest in SS7.

08:32 AM – Good morning everybody! SS7 started around 20 minutes ago. Roger Feghali is quickest so far with a 10:18.40, while Abdo remains second, 13.2 seconds behind. Abdul Aziz Alkuwari took a surprise third place ahead of Nick Georgiou!

01:48 PM – Alkuwari and Al Marri ended Day 2 in tenth and fourteenth positions.

01:45 PM – Roger Feghali is in a class of his own, he won SS6 and is now 36.7 seconds ahead of Abdo in the overall results. Nicolas Amiouni and Nick Georgiou maintained their third and fourth positions.

01:30 PM – Cars are now arriving to the service area.

12:43 PM – SS6 started almost 20 minutes ago, results remain unknown.

12:40 PM – Edith Weiss is having communication problems with her co-pilot Antoine Salem, she still managed to post a time 16:14.09.

11:50 AM – Roger Feghali leads in SS5, with Abdo in second place as usual, around 6 seconds behind. Nicolas Amiouni came back from tire puncture to go third quickest ahead of  Gilbert Bannout and Nick Georgiou who currently are fourth and fifth respectively.

11:25 AM – Ziad Karanouh is also out due to yet unconfirmed mechanical problems.

10:52 AM – Misfer Al Marri has been pushed to fourteenth place! Fadi Hammadeh is now tenth followed by Rabih Ayoub, Robert Aaraj and Bassel Abou Hamdan.

10:48 AM – SS5 will inaugurate at 11:21, almost half an hour from now, in Ain Aaya.

10:35 AM – Nicolas Amiouni punctured his left front tire, he ended up eighth with Ghassan Khoury right behind in ninth.

10:25 AM –Roger is the quickest in SS4, with Abdo almost 4 seconds behind in second place, Nicholai Georgiou is a further 46 seconds behind in third ahead of Chafic Boulos in fourth.

08:45 AM – Good morning everyone! We’re back to the Fouad Chehab Stadium for Saturday’s Rally Of Lebanon 2012 action. 

Day 2 – Saturday, September 08, 2012

 

00:30 AM – All drivers safely returned to the Service Area at the Fouad Chehab Stadium. SS3 final results in the following link.

00:02 AM – Drivers complained of an extremely slippery second stage.

00:01 AM – Nadim Al Halabi had to retire after an unfortunate accident.

23:57 PM – SS3 results are finally in, Roger went quickest for the second time, with Abdo  9 seconds behind in second place. Nicolas Amiouni maintained his impressive performance after going 3rd quickest on Friday’s last stage.

22:47 PM – SS3 kicked off 10 minutes ago, still no results.

22:40 PM – Roger Feghali goes fastest in SS2, 8 seconds ahead of brother Abdo.

22:21 PM – Emile Abou Karam also suffered a minor spin in SS2.

22:15 PM – Eddy Abou Karam slid on water in SS1 and currently lies at the bottom of the timesheets.

21:55 PM – Rodrigue Rahi had a minor spin in SS2, he continues the stage with no damage.

21:15 PM – Less than 20 drivers remain for SS1. SS2 to start in 20 minutes.

20:23 PM – Misfer Almarri was the first driver to go out 10 minutes ago. SS1 is currently being contested in Blat.

20:15 PM – Nadim Halabi onboard his SEAT Ibiza GTI will be the last driver to leave the Stadium.

20:00 PM – Almost 9 cars are yet to leave the Service Area.

19:30 PM – Roger Feghali’s car being prepped before the launch.


19:30 PM – It’s go time!! The launch has just started here at the Fouad Chhab Stadium!

18:20 PM – The start ceremony has ended and the Rally cars will launch at 7:30 PM from Fouad Chhab Stadium.
