Land Rover has finally unveiled the all-new Range Rover Sport at the New York Auto Show this week. According to the brand, the new model is positioned between the Range Rover and the Evoque.
While it was developed alongside the Range Rover and shares some commonality with its sister vehicle, the new Range Rover Sport benefits from 75 percent unique parts.
It is just 62mm longer than its predecessor, yet at 4850mm, it is shorter than other 7-seater SUVs and most E segment sedans, bringing greater maneuverability and ease of parking. However, a significantly longer wheelbase (increased by 178mm) provides greater room and improved access for rear passengers.
The new sporty SUV features an enhanced line-up of powerful petrol engines including a 3.0-litre 340hp supercharged V6 and a 5.0-litre 510hp supercharged V8, both available with fuel-saving Stop/Start paired with an advanced 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
The substantial weight saving of up to 420kg delivered by the new aluminum unibody design has helped to deliver a step change in the performance, together with significant gains in fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
The new Range Rover Sport will go on sale worldwide later this summer.
