HRH Prince Sultan Bin Bandar Al-Faisal, President of the Saudi Arabian Motorsports Federation, crowned Abdul Hadi AlQahtani from Ford Al-Jazirah Racing Team who clinched the title at an awesome spectacle attended by over seven thousand spectators who enjoyed performances from Red Bull Athlete Abdo Feghali, the winners of the Riyadh and Khobar round and some of the top drifting talents in Jeddah; the Jeddah round successfully concluded the Saudi qualifiers of Red Bull Car Park Drift after three exciting stops in Saudi cities with spectators exceeding a total of 22,000 and over 100 participants. Thus, the Saudi drifters, who will represent the Kingdom in the finals of Red Bull Car Park Drift in Beirut, is complete with Hatim Natto in his Hyundai Car with Snickers team representing the Central Region, Saeed Al Moori in his Lumina with Hankook team representing the Eastern Region and AbdulHadi AlQahtani in his Mustang with Ford Al-Jazirah Racing team representing the Western Region.
On this occasion, HRH Prince Sultan Bin Bandar Al-Faisal, president of the Saudi Arabian Motorsports Federation stated, “Red Bull Car Park Drift has been indeed an splendid sports event which has brought forth three Saudi champions to represent the Kingdom in the final round and I am quite confident they will demonstrate distinctive standards of performance. On the other hand, in the light of this successful event, the Federation will certainly be keen on continuing such events to be on the annual calendar of all the drifters in Saudi Arabia and I would like to thank Red Bull for organizing this competition which aims at discovering new talents in the field of motorsport and enhancing awareness among Saudi youth to seek the legal ways for practicing the sport of drifting.”
The developments of the Jeddah round were truly extraordinary with the overwhelming crowds show up of enthusiastic young spectators and the high standard of skills displayed by all contestants who presented extremely exciting shows demonstrating strong and precise control of their cars as some of them managed to drift their cars smoothly and continuously for very long distances and from curb to curb. Besides, the tire-smoke shows witnessed fierce competition which proved that there are real drifters who enjoy high standards of skill and thrilling competitiveness.
Saudi rally champion Abdullah Bakhashab and member of the judging panel expressed his excitement at this event saying: “ As I expected, the event was[singlepic id=1493 w=320 h=240 float=right] extremely exciting as the competitors presented high standard of driving skills through car-control shows which really astonished the spectators and intrigued the jury until AbdulHadi AlQahtani clinched it in the final round. I take the opportunity to extend my thanks to Red Bull for providing the Saudi youth with this precious opportunity to participate in such a grand championship that will discover distinctive drivers not only in the Kingdom but also in the other Arab countries participating in this championship. And a special thanks also to the president of the Saudi Motorsports Federation HRH Prince Sultan Bin Bandar Al-Faisal for his kind support of this championship.”
On this occasion, AlQahtani issued a statement saying: “The Saudi youth has all the right to be proud of this championship which was held under the patronage of the Saudi Arabian Cars & Motorcycles Motorsports Federation. Thank God for the grand victory I have made and for being crowned by HRH Prince Sultan Bin Bandar Al-Faisal as the winner of this round and we are all very grateful for his kind support of such championships. And I will, God willing, do my utmost best to represent Saudi among the Middle East Champions to honor my country and take the title”
The final round will be held in Beirut city in Lebanon on 22nd July 2011 to choose one top contestant who will hold the title of King of Drift 2011.
