The wait is finally over, the Regional Finals for the 2013 Red Bull Car Park Drift inaugurate tomorrow night (5:00 PM GMT), November 8, at the Dubai World Trade Centre as a main event of the newly announced Dubai Motor Festival, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The event has been one of the most anticipated events in the Middle East’s busy motorsport calendar, bringing smoking tires, flames, and spectacular sideways’ rides around a difficult, technical course.
A team of international motorsport superstars are set to judge the forthcoming Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Finals, in a high-octane event that will pit 17 finalists from 10 countries against each other. Drift legends Meang-Keun Lee (Korea) and Alexandr Grinchuk “Grinya” (Ukraine) will be joined by HRH Prince Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal to judge the action filled event while Rallying legend Abdo Feghali AKA “Dado”, will assume the role of race director.
This year’s competition introduces a new set of judging criteria. A total of 40% of the marks will be awarded for overall drifting skills; 20% for the optimal clipping point; 10% for speeds clocked at the Speed Trap; and an additional 10% each for the appearance of the car, the crowd’s reaction, smoke generated from the drift and the engine.
